This course provides an overview of the field of human resource management (HRM). It focuses on the issues and decision making related to employer-employee relations. Topics to be discussed include human resource planning, recruitment and selection, types of training and opportunities for employee development,
performance appraisal, and issues related to compensation and benefits, industrial relations and employer employee relations. It also looks at the external factors that affect human resource management such as public policy, labor market, legislation, competition pressures, consumers, shareholders and technology. Managing a multi-cultural work force and other current issues in human resource management will also be discussed.
