This course develops students’ understanding of the fundamental concepts and practical technique on the use of process integration to maximize the efficiency and sustainability of industrial process. The course initially introduces the students to the methods and techniques to optimize processing energy efficiency, including graphical, algebraic and mathematics technique. Additional topics include process economics, targeting for conservation of energy, synthesis of innovative processes, retrofitting of existing systems, design and process pollution prevention.
